Funeral set for Ga. airman killed in Africa crash

NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) - Family and friends are saying farewell to a Georgia Air Force officer who was among four airmen killed in a military plane crash in Africa.

Funeral services were scheduled Sunday for 29-year-old Capt. Nicholas Whitlock of Newnan.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/ACGexY ) Whitlock's body was flown back to Georgia on Saturday and was taken in a procession to the First Baptist Church in downtown Newnan.

Whitlock of Newnan was killed Feb. 18 while aboard a U-28 aircraft that crashed in Djibouti, Africa. He was assigned to the 319th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Also killed were 30-year-old Capt. Ryan P. Hall of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 26-year-old 1st Lt. Justin J. Wilkens of Bend, Ore.; and 26-year-old Senior Airman Julian S. Scholten of Upper Marlboro, Md.
