Boise State was able to stick with the Lobos most of the second half, cutting the lead down to one with 5 minutes, 20 seconds to play, but the Broncos were not able to get any offensive runs together and missed key free throws down the stretch. Derrick Marks led the Broncos (16-8, 4-6) with 19 points. Kenny Buckner added 11 rebounds. The Broncos shot 37 percent from the field, with guard Jeff Elorriaga, the Mountain West's top 3-point shooter, going 1-of-9 on 3-pointers. It was a season-low scoring output for the Broncos. Cameron Bairstow had 16 points to lead the Lobos (22-4, 9-2).
Halftime update: New Mexico leads Boise State 29-23. The Broncos have turned the ball over 10 times and are shooting 10-of-27 from the field (37 percent), but are 2-of-11 on 3-pointers (18.2 percent). Derrick Marks leads Boise State with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting. New Mexico has 10 points from guard Tony Snell and nine points from forward Cameron Bairstow.
