Thursday night was the kind of celebration where going for broke was not only encouraged, it was actively sought.
All in the name of a good cause, the faux rollers were on hand at LeMont for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?s Vegas on the Mon, where roulette, poker, blackjack, slots and craps were claiming most of the Monopoly money in the hands of co-chairs Jack Kessler (with Ellen) and Mark Mason (with Myrna), Barb and Gary Bowser Sr., Ed and Anna Dunlap, Randy and Heather Hillier, Nadine Bognar, the Hon. Bob and Violet Gallo, Jeanne Caliguiri, Mike and Debbie Barbarita and LLS board prez Rick Wiedman.
Before the games officially began, Ralph Martin was lauded with the Mark L. Unatin Winged Victory Award for his efforts supporting the mission to cure blood cancers, an honor that came with heavy responsibilities.
?My wife will kill me if I drop this,? he joked, handing over the substantial glass sculpture to his wife, Sharon. ?I?m honored to be chosen and recognized in this way, and also humbled. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has done so much, but there?s still so much left to do.?
